I currently have a TarpTent Squall 2 that I like but I am looking for a lighter weight solo option. I would like some opinions on three season shelters. I would like something with insect protection. I am considering the Hexamid from ZPacks with the net and door options, the MLD Duo with a Serenity Net, the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo, and the Six Moon Designs Wild Oasis. Cost isn't much of an issue. I just want a decent shelter that is relatively easy to pitch, sheds weather well and that's lighter than the TT I currently own. I am 5'11". Thanks for any feedback from owners of these different shelters. I am also open to other recommendations.

My Son, Heaven has sent me your request so that I may lift the scales from your eyes. Cast your gaze upon the TarpTent Moment and be saved. Yes saved I say, saved from lesser tents, creepy crawlies and the disappointment of offshore workmanship. Amen!

But "seriousnessly", I own a Moment and think it's the best 3 season solo tent going. You really must see one in the flesh to appreciate its ease of pitching (even faster than my former Contrail), wind-worthiness, venting options, great vestibule and attention to detail.

Nuff sed.

The Moment does look like a good option. Like I said, I have the Squall 2 and really like it. I was just looking at the Gossamer Gear "The One" and wanted a little more feedback from people who have used some of these others before I drop the $$$ on a new shelter. The SpinnTwin with a MLD Serenity net seems like it might be nice also.

Anyone have any experience with any of these other options?

my fiance and i used a six moon designs wild oasis on the colorado trail last summer and we loved it. we are small people so we managed to make it work as a tight two peason shelter. 15 oz with stakes and ground cloth, its hard to beat for a 1 person shelter that can sleep two. this shelter is easy to set up and handles the strong colorado winds like a champ! but i am in the same boat you are in, looking for a lighter solo shelter. and i to am considering the zpacks hexamid, which is designed very similar to the wild oasis and weighs a lot less!
peace
