Will permethrin damage my pack?

I use it on my clothes but I was thinking of spraying some permethrin on my backpack or nylon hammock but I want to be sure I don’t damage either fabric.

Sawyer says that permethrin will not harm or stain fabric, even silk … and that it will not soften plastic or synthetic materials but I don’t believe everything that manufacturers claim.

Has anyone here sprayed their gear with no ill effects?

Thanks

I’ve treated non-coated nylon fabric with no noticeable harm, including a Hennessy Hammock body. I’ve heard anecdotally that it can affect DWR treatments, but I’ve got no personal experience with that.

I doubt coated waterproof fabrics can be treated effectively, as the permethryn probably wouldn’t to adhere to it. So my guess is the pack wouldn’t be treatable, but the hammock should be.
