Any cottage industry food manufacturers out there? The only one I currently know of is Hawk vittles, looking forward to trying some of those, any others to look for?
Edit: looking for people manufacturing actual meals, already a fan of FBC, sometimes I'm just too lazy or cheap to purchase all the ingredients needed to make 1 meal for a weekend trip.Mar 17, 2010 at 6:39 am #1587428Sarah Kirkconnell runs the site. She's here on BPL often.

Mar 17, 2010 at 6:58 am #1587438Enertia Trail Foods – I met them at Trail Days 2009 in Damascus, VA. Really nice people and the food is pretty darn good. If I remember correctly – they bought out a person who was already in the business but was about to shutdown. They bought the equipment and some of the recipes but have added a lot more and improved the quality. They are working with the Coleman company now but it is really two siblings and their associated families who run the business.

For a family run business also check out wwww.packitgourmet.com – it is run by Sarah and her mother.
http://www.packlitefoods.com is another small company.
Mar 17, 2010 at 7:38 am #1587453Dicentra maybe? I don't know if she's on this forum, but she's on whiteblaze and she's planning to attend the PCT kickoff this year. I know she's prepared meals for hikers before, but I don't know if that's a regular thing for her. She does have a website and book…One Pan Wonders.
Mar 17, 2010 at 7:55 am #1587457Yep, Di posts here :-) And yes, she will be at Kick Off again this year – she is going with a couple of our mutual friends as well.
Mar 17, 2010 at 11:43 am #1587540I hope Di and friends are registered for the kickoff because we had 400 register in the first 48hrs the registration site was open.
Mar 17, 2010 at 12:01 pm #1587546Terry,
She is a speaker. She was also last year as well.Mar 17, 2010 at 12:06 pm #1587551LOL. I post everywhere! :p
Yes! I am registered for KO. I am also speaking on hiker nutrition and food ideas in the Pavillion after dinner – I think it got moved to Friday night. Come find me!
Yes, I am sponsoring three PCT thrus this year and doing a big chunk of their food. This comes out of MY pocket. I do not (yet) sell my meals. It is in the long term plan for One Pan Wonders though. Lord knows I've had enough requests.
Mar 17, 2010 at 12:09 pm #1587556One more thing…
Since I've gotten used to doing a ton of meals at once (sometimes 30 or more in a day) I've developed a "system". I will make 4 of the same type of meal at one time.
If you did this for say, one overnight trip, you would have 3 more meals already packaged for future trips.
I took pics of how I did this last night… Intending to make it into a blog post. I will try and remember to also post it here.
Mar 17, 2010 at 12:12 pm #1587557I'm thinking next week I should start hiking from KM to Lake Morena instead of from Campo to KM. Y'all are making me hungry!
Mar 17, 2010 at 4:13 pm #1587637Glad you are registered, just covering the bases! I enjoyed your talk last year.
see you there!
