Hello,

My wife and I have a MLD duomid that we enjoy using, but we have a 9 mo. old baby now and are looking for something for the three of us that has a tad more room we can use into his toddler years (maybe until he is 4 or 5?). Any tent recs for 2 adults and a litlte one that isn’t super heavy?

My other option is an REI half dome that I have, so I’m imagining there are lots of lighter options between my two current tents. I looked into the REI SL2, but it seems a bit narrow for the three of us.

Setup wise, I’m imagining we will get one sleeping pad big enough to share and a big quilt, and have our little one between us. Thoughts on this setup? Any better alternatives you’ve tried?

Thanks!

I’m in a similar situation with a little munchkin on the way… Here are some lightweight ones that I’m considering for us;

BA Tiger Wall 3p HV UL (Not bad but not so crazy about the rainfly doors hanging a bit low when tied open)

BA Fly Creek 3p UL (lightweight but only one door and vestibule)

Zpacks  Triplex (So so in the wind, very lightweight and requires trekking poles)

Tarptent Cloudburst (Probably the one I’m leaning the most towards at this point)

Good luck!

BA copper Spur 3 or 4. 3 should work well depending on how big mom and dad are. I also used a golite shangri-la 5 with inner net when my kids were younger.

Tarptent Stratospire 2, or, if you don’t mind a bit more weight,  the larger Tarptent SCARP 2 which can actually sleep 3 adults, head-to-toe.
