May 4, 2006 at 6:34 pm #1355911Just curious as to why you need:
Snowpeak 900 cooker when you have the jetboil? the lantern?
Also, you could save weight on the pad, the knives and tools (a SA Classic would save you 2.3 oz.)You didn’t list rain gear, clothing for cool weather, flashlight/headlamp, navigation gear, etc., so you might want to trim some of these other items to stay under 8#.
Since you are in the neighborhood, be sure to look at the gear lists on this site. There are dozens. Some of them are suitable to your outdoor area (where I live as well).
May 5, 2006 at 5:30 am #1355932sorry the jetboil listed is the 110g fuel canister for the primus stove. dont have a lantern. photon freedom and tikka plus for lighting. also have not got around to clothing because i dont have much except socks and shirts.

Sure. One thing about this region, you can hike fall, winter and spring with “3-season” gear, and leave the sleeping bag at home in favor of a hammock in the summer. Some folks don’t even bother with a pack, just tuck an emergency space blanket and a bottle of DEET in one pocket and some energy bars in another pocket and go. -
