I'd like to start a discussion on the C9 clothing line by Champion. It seems like an odd brand for backpacking apparel, but some of the stuff appears to be very practical.

Some of you use the C9 underwear, but what else have/do you use?

I recently picked up a DuoDry long sleeve 1/2 zip that could be used as a baselayer in cooler months, or as my main shirt for summer in places where it doesn't get too hot, like at altitude. It was only $18, so this has potential to be a very versatile, yet inexpensive shirt.

What are your experiences with this clothing line?

I've been using the midweight long underwear for the past few trips. I like it so far. It does a good job of keeping out the chill when I have to make a midnight potty run. I have the boxer briefs too, which are mostly cotton, but they're a hell of a lot cheaper than UnderArmour. I also picked up a white t-shirt, but haven't used it yet. I may pick up their lightweight long underwear soon. Anyway, I went for this line of clothing when lots of people on a popular bodybuilding site started recommending this stuff over UnderArmour.

I was looking for some long underwear last time I was at Target, but couldn't find it. Is there anything you could compare it to?

I picked up a C9 watch cap. It's my favorite. Fairly thin, but blocks the wind well. I think it cost about $9. I'll pick up a spare next time I see it.

I can't compare it to other long underwear since this is my first tight synthetic long underwear. I can tell you it feels 2-3x thicker than the fabric in my UnderArmour boxer briefs.

Its also interesting that they've got some apparel going to Mt. Everest–especially that Aerogel jacket.

I have some C9 stuff and my favorite I got on a clearance rack for maybe 5 bucks. It is a long sleeve shirt/base layer that is brushed on the inside with a maybe 1 inch collar (turtleneck style?). It feels nice, fits very well and has been extremely durable. I use it constantly for layering at work, biking, and hiking.
