Received my MLD Burn on Saturday….didn't actually see the package until today (front porch out of view – normally transit in/out of house via garage).

Impressions: Will be my go to bag for UL weekend and 3 season trips….fits well, great construction, feature rich. I opted for a the padded hip belt wings of the Prophet which are padded vice what is standard on the Burn and added load lifters.
Overall very pleased with this pack….pictures are not high quality but they're pictures nonetheless :-)BurnBurnBurn

Great stuff – what does this bad boy weigh with your additional options?

David,

I'll weigh it tonight on our neonatal digital scale and post results….

Mike,

The bottom/last picture you can see the load lifters…they're anchored at the seam where the main pack and extension collar meet.
I'll be leaving for work soon…I'll post a picture of the load lifters up close tomorrow.

I recieved my today. It weighed in at 11.8 oz with everything attached. Since I don't use a chest strap, waist belt or compression cord for my a base weight of 5.8 lbs, the pack will weigh less when removed. I like it so far. So many features for a light weight pack.

My BIG 3 (MLD quilt, bivy, and tarp) takes up a little space in this 1950 cui pack. I like the fact that now I can carry my tarp in the big mesh pocket on the outside and free up room for more food for extra days on the trail. I'm pretty sure I can squeeze out up to 5 day hikes with this pack. I have a 58 mile 2 day hike at the end of this month to try it out.

I guess I can hang up the old REI Jet UL pack now. She has served me well.

The weight of my Burn with custom padded hip belt wings (the larger Prophet padded wings), load lifter straps, sternum strap, and compression/shock cord attached is 12.5oz. Without shock cord it was 11.9oz.

I also received mine yesterday (pics to come).

Overall, I'd have to agree with Robert. This will be my go to 4-season overnight to 5-day trips (summer). Provided I can come up with a clever way to suspend my snowshoes, it should work well even in the winter.

Construction is great as is the feature set. I'm really impressed with the amount of features this little pack has in this weight class. Love the grid stop. Held up great in my ULA packs so expecting the same.

Gear wise, I'm using a Hexamid tarp with MYOG momentum bivy and my WM Versalite for winter/shoulder season duty so packed volume is pretty minimal (can substitue my duomid for expected really poor weather). Fugu jacket and fleece along with my BPL UL90 Balaclava round out most of the insulating gear.

Fit is great and I really like the shoulder straps. Solid padding/shape make them comfortable. I opted to leave the std hip belt as at the rated carry cap, the padded hip belt offers very little for me. I figured I can always add some EVA foam to the inside of the wings if needed later.

Well done Ron. I'm betting this is going to be a big hitter for him to start off 2010!

Is there a removable foam Back panel in it like the Golite Jam2? My Jam2 is just a bit to big when I use a Torsolite and the Burn looks like the perfect fit for shorter trips.
