I picked up a couple of pairs of Tyvek pants to play around with as lightweight rain/wind pants.

The seams are sewn together pretty loosely and look like they ought to be sealed before I use them. Anyone have any recommendations on what I could use?

Can I get away with using a standard silicone sealer like you would use on a silnylon shelter or do I have to use something different?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Superglue or PVA adhesives are what's recommended to seam seal a tyvek Sublite tarptent.

because of its flexibility is recommended and was being use by Tarptent awhile back on the Sublite before it stopped sealing its tents . Superglue dries stiff and could possibly cut up the Tyvek. I have used Roo Clear on another Tyvek shelter because of my good experience with the Sublite.

I read about tyvek tape on here in a post or two. I don't know how well it would apply to the rain pants. I plan on using it for a tyvek home wrap tarp among other random projects.

I went to Home Depot and picked up a roll just the other day to supplement the insane amount of tyvek I have around. I haven't had a chance to test water resistance but it is amazingly strong. It was kind of expensive ($15 or so) for 165 feet of 2 inch tape.

Tyvek tape and anything else tyvek related is discussed in the following 2 part articles (which some other BPL post directed me to as well)

Thanks everyone.

I agree that something that will remain flexible is probably a good choice for seam sealing rain pants. I looked up Roo Clear glue… Nobody near me carries it but I bet I can find a similar acrylic glue at one of the local hardware stores.

I'll give it a shot.
