FYI: After the recent discussion of Brynje products, I asked their customer support about USA dealers. Their reply said:

Reliable Racing Supply Inc.
643 Upper Glen Street
Queensbury N.Y. 12894

is their importer/distributor for BRYNJE
SUPER THERMO products.

They also said "Since our importer/distributor does not carry a complete range we are of course prepared to service you direct from this end if this might be of
interest."

Good work Robert, they're a helpful company.

It will be interesting to see if other people can get over the weird look of Brynje and appreciate it's effectiveness.

Joe,

I was wearing cotton fishnet back in the 1960's when the only kind was cotton. The cotton was no problem, really — most of what was near the skin was air. I used to wear a merino wool turtleneck over it. That made a very comfortable and effective base layer for eastern winter mountaineering. When it was less cold, I did not wear the merino, and so the air cells were less sealed off. Similar for the bottom half.

I've just started wearing a Brynje ls top. It is very warm with a merino layer over the top. First impressions are good, but after wearing merino only for years, the synthetic stink might be a problem. I haven't used it enough to say.

I wore mine for a week of ski touring under Rab Vapour-Rise. I can't believe how warm and dry I was. We had -25C on some days.

I figure any 'synth-stink' was coming from the Vapour-Rise more than the Brynje.

On the suggestion of Mike Martin, fellow BPL staffer I picked up a mesh shirt by Bryne that I've been using for winter running and I find it to be quite great.

I purchased it from Reliable Racing and although it was expensive I've been pleased with the purchase thusfar.

I cannot say enough good things about this underwear. I have been using their stuff for going on 15 years now. I do a lot of winter ultra marathon running. This has been hands down the best stuff to keep me warm, dry, sweet smelling (relatively) and comfortable. I have used it in temps from -50F to +50F – usually in conjunction with a vapor barrier when it gets below 0. I've tried many other synthetics and wool but nothings works as well as the Brynje.

Tip – wash it in cold water and do NOT use a dryer – just air dry it – they tend to shrink rather dramatically in the dryer.

The sizes run slightly on the small side (and if you find it's too big – just put it in the dryer for a little while)

Reliable racing are indeed reliable, no problems with them.

cheers

Old thread, I know, but per a Feb 4, 2014 email response from customer care at Reliable Racing, they are phasing out Brynje products now and will no longer be carrying them in the future. Apparently the tariffs are just too high to make it work. Who knew there were tariffs on underwear?

They still have some men's briefs left, but after that, there will be no more.

I had an easy time ordering Aclima Woolnet and Coolnet stuff from Nordic Outdoor in the UK. (I'm in the U.S.)

That stinks. If Brynje took their polypropylene fishnets and added polygiene treatment, they would be simply awesome–near on par with Patagonia's newest Cap 4 (P.P.H.E.) baselayers with polygiene. Well both tend to be pretty pricey, as a downside.
