I thought there was a thread about this, if so I've been unable to find it.

Has anyone cut a Platypus or other brand of soft sided bladder and "successfully" resealed the seam? If so how?

My 1L got punctured in the lower 1/2 of the bladder. I was thinking about cutting the remaining bladder down to about 8-12oz size to use for fuel.

What do you think, doable or a waste of time? Any suggestion as to how this can be done?

Hi JJ,

I have not chopped and re-heatsealed a Platy but have repaired punctures using either their patch kit or glueless bike tube patches (it seems to be the same 3M material in both).

The patches are only a problem when the hole is at a fold or adjacent to a seam. otherwise they seem permanent.

Since forum listers are fond of chopping and re-sealing mattresses, you might still get the answer you're looking for.

Cheers,

Rick
