Maybe it's slightly off topic. Not exactly long trekking gear unless I used it to traverse the Antarctic or something, which I doubt… for now. I have some material and 1000 feet of spectra line, supplies enough to make two winter Kite skiing kites. Which are considerably smaller than summer kite boarding kites with inflated leading edges and such. Winter ones don't need to be huge, especially for beginners. But have failed on finding a good pattern with a considerable amount of google time invested. Any ideas? And I'd rather not give up and buy one. It would cost zero to make as I already have the stuff.

Thanks!
Gabe

I second the parrawing.

Do a search for NASA parrawing, you'll find alot if information on them and a bit of interesting history.

The link in the post above takes you to a site which sends you to here:

http://www.pawprince.com/pawprince/design/kites/construct/home.htm

Which has a calculating software that helps you design your own.
Another great site for plans is:

http://www.kiteplans.org/

lots of parawing designs as well.
I have not built any of the designs but just spent the whole Sunday of this week doing internet kite research for towing a sea kayak. These two links are little gems.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you go
