A snowshoeing trip I took with my sister last weekend turned into the exploration of a new sport – “packsledding” – when we came across a couple roll-up sleds on the way out the door. I just posted a photo essay on the trip on my blog.

Hey Devin! What a fun little trip! What MSRs are those on yer feet? (I assume they're MSRs).

Thanks Doug and George! We had a really good time, and the Sods do make for some good pictures.

The snowshoes were MSR Denali Evos that we rented from REI for $14 for the day ($3 for additional days). I don't snowshoe enough to justify buying a pair, and find these rates very reasonable. Just make sure you check their straps and the pins that connect the foot-bed to the body. This trip they were perfect, but one of the pins was missing last time I rented them and I discovered the fact too late!

I also like these shoes in particular as the have plenty of traction, are relatively light, and have a modular tail extension that you could add for soft, deep snow.
