For hilly/mountainous 20 mile/day 7-14 day treks, how much ground flax seed would you recommend each day?

2-3 scoops seems to be all I need, even though it's just a fraction of what my total fiber intake is supposed to be. And when I say it's all I need, I judge that by the quality of my crap.

Lol…well that flax seed is used as a sub for eggs and oil……people do use it in cooking, not just in getting things moving ;-)

I'd have to guess, but I think 1 scoop is about 1/10th of a cup. All I know is that it's significantly smaller than the standard protein powder 1/3rd cup scoop.

I eat flaxseed because it is high in Omega 3 fatty acids. I add two scoops to breakfast cereal and a scoop looks to be about a tablespoon. While it is a good source of fiber, two tablespoons is only 4 grams which, as Eugene mentioned, is only a small portion of your daily requirement.

If you are taking this for the fiber you can add fiber with dried fruits, oatmeal, nuts, and granola bars (like Kashi).

You also need to keep it out of the light so wrap in something like a piece of foil… I make a raw flax seed cracker for the trail which you might like. Let me know and I can post the recipe.
