Just ordered an MLD Solo Mid, Inner Net, Spirit Quilt, and misc. items. I need a hug.

Hilarious. No, but I am going to get one from my kids. After what I just spent I am not sure if my wife would give me one.

Your kids are going to give you a hug after you just spent their inheritance and college tuition?

I thought I had overdone it before Christmas.

There was the BD pyramid, Patagonia R1 and down vest for the wife, backpacks and snowshoes for wife and daughter, sleeping bag for daughter, headlamps for all…

Then after Christmas I couldn't pass up the price of a Fugu down jacket… plus snow shovels and other trinkets… a Ursack…

Sierra Trading Post had free shipping the other day and deeper discounts so I ordered some socks (which I need for work) and another Icebreaker hat (which I don't need).

Then today somebody mentioned Rail Riders sale. Two shirts from there…

I'm all set for the year now. Nothing else to buy.

Good job! And it's only January — eleven more shopping months to go…

I'd lay low Ben, when everyone's wives see these credit card bills they may come looking for the gear enabler!

I feel strangely like part of an obsessive gang now (not group but gang). Feels good. Thanks guys.

David:

We have no idea what you're talking about. Most of us ULers here only buy what we need — which is hardly anything. Don't try to drag us into the dog house with you. Your wife only has you (or perhaps herself) to blame. :)

Susan and I wandered around REI and Sunrise Mountaineering for hours and couldn't find a single thing we even wanted. Except for an REI Novara Express I covet. On sale for two hundred off.

i purchased some bug spray at REI today…but that was all i could find that i really wanted.

I have a feeling that most ULers will find few gear pieces @ REI that they really want…

And I'm a gearaholic. And my credit card is nearly maxed out on gear. Last purchase was a pair of MSR Lightning Ascent snowshoes (on 20% sale, of course).

Before that climbing skins, before that a new winter backcountry ski pack, before that… (hmmm, let me get my credit card statement and see…)

But remember, the economy needs "stimulated". It's our patriotic duty to consume.

I've been trying my best, but it's still not aroused.

@ Ben – still thinking about it. In no massive rush but am closing in on what I need. Will keep you posted (of course) ;)
