For those of you who are looking to get out of the fog and stretch out your legs, check out Pinnacles National Monument. It's located south of Gilroy on hw25. The caves, rock spires, and boulder-topped canyons are awesome. I took a group of boy scouts there on Sunday for a short 7mi(elev.gain 1500') hike. We saw three California Condors soaring high in the sky. I'm sure you could stretch it out to 15 miles or so. The only set back is there is no backpack camping allowed, but the views alone make it worth it.
