From my copy of Sierra North by Schwenke and Winnett, 1st edition,3rd printing

Just picking the big three
-Knapsack 16 oz
-Tarp or tent 16 to 96 oz
-Sleeping bag 36 to 176 oz

Go with a straight trail,
and fair weather

Thanks for sharing that Bruce. The more things change the more they remain the same. You could probably get a decent appraisal of your book from Antiques Roadshow. I think I have the third edition here somewhere.
