I just wanted to take a minute and interject my appreciation for all Richard's work and help on these forums.

You're such a great resource for all of us, and you saved me from trying to stretch an REI nooksack to zero degrees last winter (and freezing) with all your info.

    Carry on guys, sorry.

Just finished a great overnighter with my new ultra 20 golite long and wanted to report my experience to this thread.

My set up was slightly different, but not too far off.

    I was using:
    1) Golite Ultra 20 long quilt
    2) POE Ether Thermo 2/3 length
    3) 1/16? (yoga mat) CCF full length
    4) Patagonia down sweater with hood
    5) Hot chilis stretch wool base layer bottoms
    6) Old school loose fitting wool socks

I was sleeping under a tarp with set up in a modified low tetra pitch.

It had been raining all evening and off and on throughout the night. At first getting into my sleep system i started boiling, it was seriously warm! Then drifted off to sleep, woke up a couple times throughout the night to adjust the quilt underneath me. Slightly cold 2 times during the night in the lower back area, mainly due to drafting based on the positioning of the quilt.

The low was 29 degrees, I was a happy camper.

Thank you for all your work, it really helped me to understand how important pad warmth/R value is.

    Jay
