How far down the gauntlet does the insulation extend? Does it extend beyond your wrist and, if so, how far?

Only goes to where the wrist meets the hand.

from the grippy palm/cinching strap on, there is no insulation, but 2 layers of material.

I have used them in camp down to -20C (-5F) and they worked extremely well.
