Does anyone have a favorite pair of gaiters? I am thinking of purchasing OR Flex Tel gaiters for a long hike though dusty horsetrails. Any suggestions therein?

Thanks.

I have the flex-texs. They’re great when its not wet enough for waterproofs. Tho unless you only hike in milder weather, they may not be versatile enough to be your only ones. I like the Integral Designs eVent gaiter as a better all-around choice. eVent is more durable, but also too warm if its hot.

Shoes are far too personal an issue to get decent advice on a forum without providing significant info. Unless you know about the fit and qualities you want enough to order several, tinker, return some and repeat, shop locally first. There are lots of footwear threads here if you’re interested in what brands to try out. Best of luck.

La Sportiva Mountain Running gaiters are made of what looks like a similar material. I have an older pair (2.7 oz) that don’t have the frills of the current version–mine use a cord under the foot instead of hooking to the shoe, and have elastic instead of cord-locks.
