So I have the Spinntwin, 8 pegs and planned to use an OWARE double bivvy underneath it to accomodate one or two people. The OWare has a bug net that is above the 'left to right' full zip and can be raised off the face by three loops that are present. Raising of the face should make it a vertical window pane of mesh, not a horizontal one. Creating the vertical pane also creates room for your head and cover for the head!

My problem is where and how to hang them! The front of the tarp has a loop right at the tip of the beak – problem is that I am then sleeping right in the doorway, in fact if a vertical pane of mesh on the bivvy is desired, then I would be sleeping outside the tarp!

Do I run a cord front to back under the catenary curve?

Any other suggestions? I can't seem to make this 'right'!

Also – do those that use tarp and bivvy stake out the bivvy as well? (It has a silnylon base and will sit on a polycro ground sheet so will be sliding all over the place!) Or Do you run cord to the existing ground pegs that are supporting the tarp?

Ideas please. Thanks!

John,

I don't use a bivy, but also own a SpinnTwinn, and I string a cord at the peak from front to hang wet clothes, light, etc. from. I would think your bivy could hang from that peak cord…that way you can position yourself where you should be under the tarp.

Think thin bungee….I've read from other users (haven't done it yet, myself) that doing so allows necessary "give" to prevent ripping of the bivy loop.

"That sounds like a plan – should it be taught or loose?"

I used a taught line hitch on one end, and keep it just that…taught. Not tight or loose, but after the tarp is pitched, I just snug it up.

that makes sense, thanks!

Any ideas on the bivvy securing on the ground / to pegs of tarp?

Yes, the plan should be taught, but I am not sure to whom you will teach it.

Anyhow, the line should be taut, not loose.
