Costco currently had a V-neck 100% merino wool sweater for $19.99. The size medium I bought (as a gift)weighs 10.1 oz. Made in Italy, they are very thin and I believe could be worn as an underlayer against the skin. Be careful of the size you buy. I normally take an XXL—it was small on me in this sweater, that is—it fit, but was tight, not loose as XXL's usually are for me.

Costco also have their 71% merino wool blend socks available again. 4prs/9.99 Pretty good quality to boot.

4 pr. / $9.99 ? Are they good enough for everyday wear or short dayhikes?

The Costco merino socks are not as good as Smartwool, but great for the price. I basically wear them every day in winter.

They are plusher than Smartwool light hiker socks, about the same warmth, and not as durable. They get holes in them faster than they should.

I've hiked them in conjunction w/ a liner sock and find them to be a little thick and they just don't breath that well. Make a good pair of sleeping socks though. My $.02
