Just back from my Overland Track crossing, had a great time , the place is magnificent. It rained most of the time and it was cold but we were very comfortable and dry, apart from our feet. My Montane jacket and pants were light and very nice to wear and had a lot of success with the possum down gloves/hat and top. The bit of gear that I could not come up with a good alternative for ( Adam and I spent a lot of time talking about gear…) was the Rainbow, never got wet inside and it performed very well in the strong wind we had for three nights, the possum beanie kept my head warm.
The Rainbow had a lot of admirers, the ones I call the Macpack brigade, all with heavy Gore-tex jackets , three layers underneath and wet from their own sweat, and most with a 6 pound tent stored inside the hut.
