I'm starting a new tent made from silnylon. I would really prefer to not sear the edges if I don't have to. Will a have problem fraying like uncoated's do or am I ok not not sear?

    Thanks, Jamie

I never sear anything. I have only had one lot of silnylon that frayed at all and that wasn't much. Just do finished edges and everything will be fine.

For coated nylon (silnylon), searing may not be necessary. But uncoated frays very easily and does much better when seared. I made an alcohol lamp to do this.
