I'm tired of my old Columbia Bora Bora Boonie. I must admit the Bora Bora has been tougher than I expected, there's not much wear and tear to the thing after several years of use. I don't like the brim, as it gets floppy and useless in the rain. I do like the ability to just wad it up and stick it in a pocket. I'm not looking for a ball cap with a neckcape. The Sunday Afternoons Field hat looks nice, but I don't know about it's foldability. Anyway, are there any "smashable" sun hats that have decently sturdy brims?

My favorite hat is the Dorfman Pacific Crushable Felt Hat ($40 @ REI). The brim stays stiff even though it’s crushable. It does a fantastic job keeping the sun and the rain off. It’s a little warm in 95+ degree heat tho (yea felt).

I punched a couple holes in mine, added 4 grommets (2 on either side where the brim meets the hat), and added a chin strap and back skull strap.

I have mine marked as 180g, but I don’t know if that’s before or after I added the straps.

Just checking, again, to see if anyone has used the Sunday Afternoons Field hat?
