I am going on a trip in early OCT that temp daytime is 50-70 and night can get down into the twenties.
I am bringing:

Hike:
Boots and wool socks
Long sleeve capaline Shirt
Nylon shorts

In Pack
Mountain Hard. Fleece cap
Poly glove liners
Montbell Thermawrap
Med. Weight Capaline long underwear top and bottom
Stretchy Nylon Athletic Pants
Wool Sleep Socks
Campmor 20 deg down mummy bag
Z REST
Gatewood Poncho

Will this keep me warm down to 20?
I am mainly worried about at night when i am cooking dinner and sitting around camp.
Thanks,
Tom

What kind of pants will you be wearing ??

Might want to throw in a 5 oz vest.

A few questions:

How long is your Zrest, and how tall are you?

Is the Thermwrap the parka (hooded) or jacket (hoodless)?

Which MH hat i.e. what is the fabric?

What elevation will you be at?

My gut says you'll be OK (especially with the two long-sleeves plus the MB piece, if it is the parka). Check out Richard Nisley's posts re: clothing warmth.

If you can swing it, dropping the midweight Capilene top for an insulated vest of comparable weight will be much warmer. Also, I would add a 3-5 oz hooded windshirt to the ensemble.

If you get cold sitting around in camp, grab your bag and wrap it around you.

I am not one of those "always hot" guys, I'm usually the last to sweat under most conditions. With that said, a midweight Cap would suffocate me, I think. Unless the wind is howling and I was ambling along on flat ground with a light load, I've got to have silk weight and add easily removed top layer insulation for the cold times.

Z rest is a full length.
Thermawrap is a jacket, no hood.
MH hat is a thick fleece with windblocker
