My idea of cooking is not to eat out of a bag and not to eat out of the pot I cook in. Bags – because I have to carry the empties as trash and my folding spork doesn't reach all the way in, they also require a cozy, the pot because I don't like burning food at the bottom, cleaning it (narrow mouth) and I like to get maybe hot water for coffee going while I'm eating my granola! If I'm drinking coffee, I don't want to burn my lips each time I sip either. So I need to carry something to drink out of and/or eat from. I really like the idea of having the screw top lid end-on-end ziploc tubs. They fit the Heiny pot and all that can fit in that HOWEVER another concern of mine – Aluminum, jagged edges, difficult to pick up as I dont own wick, bla bla bla. And of course Titanium pots are cool and I bought it here at BPL! So I have tried to fit the Evernew 600 tall pot in a ziploc screw top 2 cup tub to no avail -the pot is too wide at the base and the handles (albeit removable) definitely don't fit. HOWEVER I did find that HOMELIFE brand makes identical – almost identical – tubs that have a slightly wider base.
So two, 2cup tubs two lids with centers removed and a touch of duct tape allows me to create a storage box that contains the two handles from the Evernew, my spork, aluminum flashing wind protector, 'hard-cloth' pot stand, rag to dry, alcy stove, and two polystyrene 7 oz cups to drink from. All that fits in the Everclear with room to spare on top for what seems like 6 coffees,3 sugars, 6 EmergenC's and salt and pepper. I actually choose to carry an ADDITIONAL screw top lid for the Homelife's without the center removed. I do this to be able to 'cook while sealed' or even take leftovers with me without fear of spilling, or emergency water or whatever!
I could easily swap out the 'bits' from inside to add fuel, but I take about 8 oz to cater for two people for a few days and the bottle is just a bit big. For an overnighter or two i could easily rearrange.
The weight is around 9 oz including the spare screw top lid, without the drinks – lightened by changing the flashing for foil or using the flashing as the pot stand (requiring stakes of some sort).
That's my luxury solo but ideal two man solution!
