I’d like to find out the relationship between moisture accumulation (as a percentage of down weight) and loft degradation for down insuation.
Has anyone done any research in this area? For example, suppose you have 10 ounces of 800 fill-power down (8000 cu in) and you add 10% water (1 oz), what would be the resulting volume of the wet down? Is the relationship linear? How much moisture can down absorb before it loses, say, 50% of its loft?
Cheers,
-Mike
