Thought I would post this. Went out for a couple of days…cooked some trout on an Esbit.

Set Up:
Snow Peak 900ti frying pan (up side down on esbit)
Aluminum foil wrapped trout
olive oil and seasoning
2 cubes

In 9-10 minutes the fish cooked up great. I used 2 cubes to make sure they cooked, but the heat was so hot I believe you could get away with just one cube. Might try that at the house when I bring a fish back from some place. I am pleased with the results.

I like the Esbit, simple, duel purpose as fire starter. With one cube per 2 trout I certainly believe it will be a weight savings on consumable fuels.

Any pictures? How much fuel did you use to complete the cooking? Full tab? Half tab?

Thanks!

i used 2 cubes on the initial attempt, but i believe it will cook 2 small trout with 1 cube. the small frying pan upside down is important. it controls the flame. i tried it without the frying pan and it burned the fish. through the aluminum foil.
