Some buddies and I are going to do a 3 night trip in Colorado on August 9-12 and we'd like to check out the Weminuche Wilderness or one of the surrounding areas. None of us have been to this area of Colorado before. We'd like to climb pretty high but we aren't looking to do any 14ers (at least it's not part of the plan). Also, I'm a hammocker so I'd prefer some trees!

If any of you guys have had good experiences with any of the loops in the area, the advice would be very much appreciated! This will be my first time to visit Colorado in the summer and I'm looking forward to it.

I'd like to do that just so I could learn to pronounce "Weminuche".

You might consider the Pine River/Flint Creek semi loop.
42.1 miles +5,342ft,-5452ft. They say 5-6 days but I have done it solo in 2. Just depends on your pace. Very good fishing on the Pine if your into that.

The Ute Creek semiloop is a nice 4 day/3 night trip. Hike Ute Creek (trailhead is just above Rio Grande Resevoir) to Middle Ute Creek to CDT to West Ute Creek and back down Ute Creek. 26 miles.
