hey Guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase fuel on the JMT. Do they sell alcohol or canisters at Yosemite? I have also heard that the store at Tuolomne and the MTR sells it. Do they sell the large containers of it, or just what you need? ThanksJul 23, 2009 at 6:48 am #1515858There are gear stores at Yosemite Village and Curry Village, and I'd guess TM would have supplies as well. The one in YV is like a mini-REI with tents and clothing and all kinds of other gear. There are shelves of canisters. Not sure if they sell denatured (I can take my own from home) but even if they didn't there are small communities on all roads leading in that would have gas stations that sell the yellow HEET.

$2 per ounce! Yep, $256/gallon.At a max of $20 at True Value, and $50 to "mule it in" that is still pretty outrageous.
But they do have it.
Jul 23, 2009 at 7:22 am #1515863Yikes, think I will just add a bottle to my resupply. $2/oz is nuts!
Jul 23, 2009 at 3:16 pm #1516004$2 an ounce!
Im in the wrong business…
Jul 28, 2009 at 8:06 pm #1517163I was just in the TM's store. They are selling 16oz containers for $10. No partial sales. Ouch.
Jul 28, 2009 at 8:15 pm #1517165Mark,
Who is TM?Did you mean Muir Trail (MT) Ranch?
If so, and if others have questions, they can get info from Pat at MTR via email. She was very responsive to my enquiries. As of 7/14 or so they were selling alcohol and white gas by the ounce.
