So after a few trips inching back up to a heavier load, I've tweaked a new list for a very light hike in late July. I'll be doing the first half of the JMT Nobound between Piute Pass and Tuolomne.

I will camp below 9,000 feet ever night, so avoiding above treeline conditions / cold weather. (So not taking spare socks or gloves). Also, I can avoid using a bear cannister here if I go straight from Red's Meadow to Tuolomne, or detour and camp at Alger lakes. So that saves some weight.

Anyway, here is the list. Feedback would be appreciated. Trying to get it down to 5 lbs, but the iPhone seems to be the rub. (I have GPS and Topo on it and plan on twittering.)

I thought the Iphone took fairly reasonable pictures, do you need both?

Well, the camera is good for close ups, but very bad at landscape shots. Probably due to aperture problems, but not quite sure. Definitely will use it for quick DIAD around my area, but on a big trip with great scenery, need good photos!

Wow- that's light! :)

I see one item that you could shave a wee bit of weight, the Petzyl could be replaced w/ a BD Ion- would save 1.5 oz (of course like most things always a compromise- the Ion doesn't have quite the performance)

not sure if this would be feasible for you, but there is a thread where a member successfully cut down a NeoAir- w/ a small probably not much of a savings- just a thought though

a $$$ item for sure, but a few oz's could probably be trimmed on the bag

OT- but as a new member I simply marvel at these UL/SUL lists!
