With regards to my previous questions about Aquaseal-dealers, I received an E-mail from McNett Europe in which they informed that in Europe, Aquaseal is sold under the brand name Aquasure. This information might be interesting for other European DIY-ers who can’t, like me, find Aquaseal.
Using a search engine it was easy to find several dealers who have it in stock. Tubes are 7, 28 or 226 grams.
Anyone who has any experience with Aquasure?

The 226 grams tube is, proportionally, quite a lot cheaper than the smaller ones. Since I’m involved with several projects, it might be worthwhile to buy the bigger one. Anyone knows who long the product keeps working well after opening?

Henk,

Put it in the freezer as soon as you finish using it and it will last quite a while. When you pull it out warm it up in a pan of water on the stove for a minute or two. It is easier to apply when it is warm. I have had it last a few months and still have it usable.

Hi Scott.

This is great information. After my previous post, I sent an E-mail to McNett Europe and wasn’t very pleased with their answer (I don’t like having to say so, but they weren’t very helpful). I’ll copy my question and their answer.

Q.: Many thanks for the information. I found several dealers and have seen the product is also sold in tubes of 226 grams. How long will Aquasure be working well after it has been opened for the first time? I’ve got several projects in mind and it might be worthwhile to buy the larger tubes. Thanks again. Henk Smees

A.: Thank you.
Aquasure will begin to harden in the tube once the tube has been opened. It may last several days before the tube is too hard to use.
Please refer to your chosen retailer for all further product enquiries etc as we are strictly trade only
Kind regards
McNett Europe

I’d like to think that their statement about Aquasure becoming too hard to use after several days, has only been made because they wouldn’t want to receive any claims. I can’t imagine they don’t know it should be kept in the freezer and it can last much longer than just “several days”.

Anyhow. This proofs that inside-information from other DIY-ers, who have used the stuff – based on practical experience, is much better than a quick written answer from the people that should know better. It proofs my point to not trust the manufacturer – or their rep. – blindly (at least in this case). Next time I’ll have a McNett related question, I’ll direct myself to this community -again- or the McNett USA (who in my opinion have been much more helpful).

Thanks again, Scott.
