Have you had a chance to compare the Essence with the Mica (in terms of fit, breathability, etc.)? I am taking the Mica on a trip in Colorado over the next couple weeks and will see how it turns out. I am a bit leery of not having pit vents, so I'm curious if the "vents" on the Essence really help.

Hello David, I haven't gotten my hands on a Mica yet so I can't compare the two in terms of performance. I imagine the Mica performs similarly to the Essence since the fabric is the same. Also, after looking at photos of the two, they appear to have a similar cut. The Essence's pit vents help but don't make a huge difference. You get much more ventilation by unzipping the front zipper. Enjoy your trip and let us know how the Mica performed!
