Am looking for a lighter weight silnylon to use for a larger (1.3 sq yds) protected tent door that does not have to be as strong and durable as the single wall tent body. Could use .5 oz spin., but want something with a softer hand and more than a DWR coating. Also, want a woven fabric for durability and appearance.
1.1 oz silnylon is avail. from many sources, and runs about 1.4 oz with the coating. Have purchased a lot from several sources in the past, and recently tried both types avail. from Rockywoods, but they both weighed in at 1.4 oz. Ordered a .75 oz silnylong from a kite site, but it was as stiff as spin., and weighed around 1.3 oz. Is there any lighter woven and coated fabric out there with a soft hand? Considered cuben, but there is a durability issue, and do not want to use such an expensive fabric. If anyone knows of any lighter weight silicon coated nylon, or anything lighter, woven and coated with a soft hand, would greatly appreciate your info. Thanks very much.
