Every time I have to change the length on my Leki Makalu Titanium poles they won't re-tighten, so I have to take them apart and re-tighten the spacers.
    What's the dilly-oh?

I had the same issue with Leki Ti poles prior to switching to LT4's. With the sections poled apart the expansion device is in the lower section, make sure the inside of the upper section is clean. I found that a build up of trail dust was the issue with adjustment remaining tight. This worked to resolve the issue for me, the poles are still in use today (by others) and hold adjustment when set.

I hace had a similar issue with my REI CF poles. Try this:

    Take them apart.
get some fine sand paper (120 or 220 grit)
Rough up the parts of the expander that should contact the inner surface of the pole.
clean up all threads and reasemble.

REI lists spare parts and a wire brush kit to clean Leki poles like new.

Depending on your poles age, they may look like these, rough up the contact surfaces:

    Leki - old

    Leki - new
