I bought a pair of Sanuk sandals yesterday – sandal bottom, shoe upper. Boy are they comfortable.

But has anyone logged and trail miles with them? Mine, the hemp model, are 12.9 oz/pair, less than one of my running shoes.

This can come up a small handful of times on the forums, but no answer.

They are comfy no doubt about it, they also look cool. I found my pair to have absoloutly NO traction however, and after 50 days had worn through the soles.

No trail miles, but boy do I love these shoes!! I've had a pair for a couple of years now and they're my favorite pair of shoes. That being said, I'd be hesitant to use them for hiking as they don't breathe well and don't dry too fast. They'd probably make some nice camp shoes though if you wanted to bring a separate pair.

make great camp shoes not only for the comfort but they are light weight and flatten out to fit nicely into a pack.

I just bought a pair of Sanuk SUV's (http://www.zappos.com/product/7338107/color/18) to try out for hiking and after giving them a whirl over the weekend in the Channel Island NP I was amazed! I've been wearing Sanuk's for casual shoes for about 6 months now and have been just absolutely impressed with the comfort. I was hoping to extend that comfort to the trail and with these SUV's I was able to! I did about 10 miles with absolutely no discomfort and very little foot fatigue.
