    My uninformed prediction is that we’ll migrate from self-contained receivers to miniscule receiver modules that communicate with the device of your choice, including wrist-mounted displays, ipods, digicams and cellphones. You can actually do a variation of this today:

    I was impressed with the newer FRS radios with a GPS and the ability to transmit location to another radio of the same make. Getting that miniturized will make getting lost more difficult– great for kids and others who may wander off. I love the idea of being able to “tag” a teenager, not to mention automobiles and other toys prone to dissapearing.
