I am wondering if anyone here has shortened the coller of any of Granite Gear’s packs…I have an Ozone and a Virga, and although not a major pain, the spindrift collers on both are just too long for my taste, making packing more difficult than necessary…the alteration doesn’t seem that difficult to do, but was wondering if anyone here has done it before. Thanks.

You may want to consider sewing the new drawstring tunnel before you cut the collar shorter. That is, fold the collar down inside itself until you have the new collar height that you want. Maybe roll the edge for a nice seam, then sew it all around. Then you’ll have the surplus collar hanging down inside, with the new drawstring tunnel sewn. See if you like that, then cut the extra portion off close to the new seam so the raw edge is hidden. Run your new drawstring through when you’re all done.

That way you don’t have to commit to a certain height from the start. You can always pull the new seams out if you don’t like where the modification is going, and not really impair the function.
