So what is everyone doing to pick up the firelite mugs that don't have handles? I really like the zen simplicity of the handle-less 550 but can't figure out how I'd hold it to get boiling water into my bag to rehydrate meals or to drink coffee in the mornings. In the winter I could use a glove but what about summer trips?

A folded up bandana or pack towel works well as pot holders.

Don,

I've used this pot clamp I copied from David Lewis of this forum. You can bend one out of a coat hanger or Ti rod if you have one. Place it around the top lip of the pot and close the handle by hooking the hook in the loop. works well, hot or cold. The other option is to drill holes and make a bale handle like a bucket.

ditto on the above post, That's what I made for my trapper mug. Just using a steel coat hanger and not going to the extreme of finding Ti rod, it weighs .3 oz…

gloves are ok when holding the rim. takes a bit of care when it's full to the brim of boiling water and you're thrashing around trying to find your meal bag with your other hand ;)
