Check out Brunton's site for the Flex burner.

Larger burner ring for more even heating

Larger pot supports (but compactly folding W/ double hinges)

Burner ring folds 90 Deg. (Nice!)

Weighs only 0.7 oz. more than my Vargo Jet-Ti burner, which is among the very lightest canister burners.

Roger,

Was the Crux burner out long before the Brunton Flex burner? Just curious. Thanks for the info.

Eric, I acquired my Crux eight or ten years ago. Last year REI had them on sale for $39 if I remember correctly. It's a great stove if you have a large diameter pot but doesn't work well with my Snow Peak Solo.

Subject to correction:
I think at one stage Brunton entered into a marketing agreement with Optimus which resulted in Brunton rebadging some existing Optimus stoves under the Brunton brand. But the deal fell apart after a couple of years. The Flex comes from that era.

Cheers
