I've spent most of my backcountry life (which isn't that long, but long enough) barely tolerating sleeping bags. This means I do not look forward to sleeping unless I've had a few or more shots of an adult beverage to take the edge off. I'm 6'8" tall, with wide shoulders, and I'm a claustrophobe, all of which equals a shopping nightmare when it comes to sleeping bags. It also means the sleeping bags I've used weigh more than some smaller automobiles. I need help.
I've looked at the MontBell down + stretchy fabric stuff, but they all seem to figure everyone has a max height of 6'6". Also, stretchy stuff does not really equal existing maneuverable space, but space I have to make, which excites the claustrophobic part of me. I've also considered Feathered Friends, but before I sell the car to buy a custom 3-season sleeping bag, I thought I'd try here. I've also looked at the Western Mountaineering bags, specifically the WM Ponderosa MF. The sizing chart says it is 7 ft, which I gather is the total length, meaning it's about the same as the 6'6" restriction on other bags?
I'm open to other possibilities, of course, but would like the weight at or under 4lbs (3lbs would be ideal, but I can't be too choosy) and would like the bag to be compressible to nothing larger than a 10" x 12" sack (or any combination equaling less than 945 cubic inches) without needing to use a hydraulic press. Mummy bags are not an option due to the panic-inducing closeness. I can compromise somewhat on the weight and compression, but not on bag length and shape (I've tried that already).
I greatly appreciate any and all help and advice you all have to offer.
