I am going to get one or the other as a summer bag/ overbag. My other bag I will be using inside is a Montbell SS UL 40dF down bag that weighs 1#7. Its a long.

If I go the quilt route I will sew it myself out of Climasheild and .9 oz momentum, with a short footbox. I am looking to add about 25dF to the montbell which the BA will do, supposedly.

The BA weighs about 2#7 for a total of 3#14.

I think I can build a climasheild xp 1.8" loft quilt that weighs about 1#7 for a total of about 2#14. I have a feeling by the time I am done it could weigh a few oz heavier.

Is there any reason besides weight I should go with one over the other ?? I have never used a BA bag but the reviews on this one are good.

If it were my choice, I'd go with the quilt. I have a Cross Mountain bag using Polarguard Delta that I bought to extend the range of my bag into winter. After using it a couple of times, I cut out most of the bottom to save some weight. It's now 1# 11 oz. It never sees the outside of my house. A couple of problems for me. Polarguard Delta is still fairly bulky. Combined with my regular bag, it just took up too much pack space. It also lost a lot of loft quickly despite the minimal use it got.

Just noticed that Climashield HL is now used in the Cross Mountain. Hopefully, it's a better insulation.
