photo light question

Mine look just like the ones in your photo. I have never had an issue with the light getting in my eyes.

Never been an issue. If you want to replicate it though, cut a 1/4" section off of a drinking straw and superglue it in place.

Just wondering before I order one how these compare to the other single leds? I see princeton tec makes one and some others. Any opinions to why they are so popular?

The Doug Ritter version of the light, which I happen to have, is still being sold. It includes all the accessories that the light above does, but has a few extras, including the LED tube.

I have white led Photons both with and without the covert. The covert I have looks exactly like the one John posted above but is all black. I do like using it for reading purposes in camp. I find the bright led of the non-covert distracting at times. For general around camp use however, I have no preference.

I just wonder if anybody had compare the photon lights to the competitors like pulsar II.

There are just so many choice , I just wonder what draws most people to the photon over these others?

These lights are popular because of their tiny size and useful brightness. Some folks carry 2 or 3 at time for redundancy, or use one to supplement a headlamp.

In this category I prefer the Photon Rex since it's rechargeable (in the field too) as lithium 2016 & 2032 batteries are expensive–but they last longer than the Rex's rechargeables.

Another option is the Petzl e+Lite, as it's a complete headlamp under 1 oz. and more versatile.

I own a Photon and am picking up a couple princeton lights from REI tonight. I will let you know what I think. REI Has them on clearance for around $5.

Dave what do you think of your lights?

Have you used the E-lite. I just checked out a video on it. I wonder if there is a light similar that would use just a standard AAA battery?
