I was on one of the military gear forums I frequent this morning and I ran into this
http://www.lockheedmartin.com/products/hulc/HULCVideo1.html
Looks pretty interesting, but I wonder how comfortable that would be.
Apr 2, 2009 at 12:32 pm #1490722Thanks for sharing, it certainly looks hilarious! No UL there, though.
Apr 2, 2009 at 1:18 pm #1490731I didn't look at the link, but I'm thinking it is something that would allow you to carry about 300 lbs of gear? Cast-iron dutch oven cooking, vs. a beer can pot? A 10×10 tent and cot with catalytic heater, vs. cuben poncho tarp and thinlight pad. Hmmm…
Apr 2, 2009 at 1:39 pm #1490736Nice, Just strap one of these babies on and it will carry up to 200 lb at 7 mph continuously. Ultralight gear will no longer be needed.:-)
I can hardly wait until these things hit the civilian market.
Wonder what they go for $?

Apr 2, 2009 at 1:54 pm #1490741As far as I'm concerned, this product renders UL gear obsolete. Why not carry a 5 man tent, a full sized air mattress, and a jetboil…
The sad thing about this device is that the government probably spent millions of dollars on its development, and it will likely never be purchased or used.Apr 2, 2009 at 1:56 pm #1490743Or pack in a porta-jon.
Apr 2, 2009 at 2:37 pm #1490761Strap one of these to the backpack and you don't even have to walk. Get to those popular campsites first and beat the crowds…. ; )
