    Hi All,

We’ve used Alps Lynx 2 for years, and have always been able to buy a few at a time on sale for less than $100 each. The tent is an aluminum pole x-tent, with ground length fly, and the actual weight with good stakes is about 6.5 pounds, which is tolerable for our backpackers. Our troop’s goal is to provide a tent that will get scouts off to a good start in both backpacking and camping.

Our stock of tents has dwindled over the years, so it seemed a good time to re-evaluate brand and type of tent. Does anyone have recommendations for a 2-person troop tent? It needs to be able to weather Sierra thunderstorms, car camping in the desert (winds), and be tolerant of some mistreatment such as dragging zippers on the dust. We probably will stick with the Alps Lynx 2, but if there is now a better choice, now is a good time to make a switch. Thanks for any advice.

    Elizabeth

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The Eureka Timberline 2 is a good quality durable tent used by a lot of groups such as yours, in the same weight range.</p>
