Thank you RyanF. What I meant by “similar shoulder girth”, was similar to the 73″ Big Agnes bag. Of course, they are also similar to each other, meaning Montbell DownHugger and Montbell BurrowBag – both in SuperStretch versions.

I’m not really sold on the Montbell. I think with the girth I have that it would be on the outerlimits of always stretching the bag. Regardless, at 73 for the BA and ~74 max for the Montbell, I’m not sure either will work.

The BA bags seems to be somewhat less $$$ across the board as well.

Time for another measurement …

Ok … my best attempt at measurement of myself yields …

With just a thin t-shirt on –
~ 66-67″ at the actual shoulder
~ 70-71″ at mid-torso with my arms at my sides

I dont think 73″ will give me even enough room to move my arm to open the sleeping bag from inside, will it??? Or are the measurements loose enough to accomplish this?? Much less trying to actually move around a little in the bag.

As much as I hate the weight, I may have to go with one of the park series bags at 80″ girth. That or use a bag like the lost dog as a “half” bag up to chest height with my arms outside the bag and use an insulating jacket for varied temp/conditions.

Next year might yeild funds to get a nice quilt, but some other things in line of site are keeping me looking at some lower cost alternatives for now.

Thoughts???
