Okay, $350 in REI gift certificates burned hole in pocket w/20% off coupon, impulse puchase waiting delivery of BD Highlight 2 single wall tent w/Epic fabric. Passing thru Atlanta, GA 3/29( REI store's) on way to SC/NC/E.TN for 3 different 3-4 day BP trips. Other single wall tent I use and taking is my TT Rainbow, which I primarily use..

That all said, the BD Hlight 2 is interesting design, reasonably spacious certainly for one 6 foot tall adult or less; even a dog, or two at very close quarters. No issues w/seam sealing myself as BD doesnt do this.. My curiousity is the water resistant and breathable Epic fabric say for early spring and fall use say in SE USA mountains like AT ridgetops, say w/20s to 40s or so lows, w/rain and certainly higher humidity than say SW USA. Obviously will set up several times before trip, seam seal? Any experiences w/this particular tent or similar BD SW tent w/the Epic appreciated!

I have the BD Lighthouse and use it a lot in the NC/TN/VA area. I have read other post where people have trouble with rain and condensation, but I haven't experience any issues yet. I have used between 20 and 80 degrees as well as in long periods of rain without issue.

I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Hey thanks Brad, and Thom( pm). Brad that you have obviously used the BD w/Epic fabric in humid SE mountains w/rain/cold with good results is encouraging. It almost seems like from other reviews( BPL, backcountry.com, REI) that Black Diamond was conserative as to estimating how much continual rain it could take. Cant wait to try it out in 10 days after tweaking it at home. Have looked at the BD video on set up, actually like the idea of poles set up inside tent, will certainly set up and take down 2-3 times before leaving on trip, along w/seam sealing. Many thanks!!

Couple tips/comments:
– You get a good cross breeze by leaving open the side window and the door partially unzipped. In mild weather I will just zip the screen door and leave the main door down.
– The small overhang on the front and back allow you to leave them partially open during heavy rain, so unless you are in a hurricane you should always be able to leave it partially open
– These tents are rock solid and hold up to the wind very well. I used the Lighthouse on a Mt Whitney summit up the mountaineer route. We had wick winds and cold weather at 10,000 foot high camp. Tent did great.
– No tent is perfect, so if 1 in 25 nights presents a little issue that is an excellent tent for me.
– Setup is tricky the first couple times, but you will get the hang of it. I find it easier to start with top pole in first, then just sit down inside the tent for the two primary poles. Just start with back corner and then place in the front corner. Take your time because you don't want them to slip and punch a hole in the tent. Also stake out corners first is usually a big help.

Hope you have a great trip.
