I'm uncomfortable enough on my Ridge Rest to motivate change, although I love the weight. So I thought I'd go for the most comfortable mattress.
Anybody have experience with both the short and the regular length that can help me decide, please?
I'm 5'8", and will be using a Rab Top Bag '08 version in a Shangri-La 3 at about 2000m. Temperatures for 3 season around 0C at night.

Probably not as fun a thread as 'how big is your weapon', but anyway…

cheers,

At $150 (REI.com/product/780362)for the reg. size Exped 7, perhaps you should wait for the NeoAir ($149 @ REI pre-order) On cold trips, combine it with your Ride Rest. The combination would have and added R value of over 5.1 (probably a good bit higher due to the trapped air between the ridges and the NeoAir's bottom), less weight (31.7 oz for the Exped vs. a combined 28 oz for the pair) and in warmer weather when the higher R values is not needed, the NeoAir weighs only 14 oz.

Besides, think of how cool you would be with the latest and greatest gear!

Hey, great idea, thanks for that- my RR only weighs 202g, so combined with the NeoAir medium (370g), it would total 572g- nearly half the exped option. Only worry is if I would be slipping around all night, but that could be fun…

My understanding is (and this from pre-market buzz) that the NeoAir has a surface that is not so slippery. As an alternative/addition, put a few self stick dots of Velcro on both so they stay mated.

Cheers

PS – sorry I missed that you are metric. Of cource, all the world is execpt us and Liberia and Myanmar. Liberia and Myanmar…that's some fine company there!

My Exped 7 shorties is 21oz with the pump stuff sack. It is the most comfortable intensely warm pad I have ever used.

I would wait on the Neoair. Something tells me you are going to want to wait for v.2.

Whichever you go for, make it the short one…it's more comfortable then you think.

How is this for comfort and durability compared to the Exped. I know it is lighter, and have read some reviews/ threads, but any updated experiences?
