You asked for it and here it is : the freestanding Tarptent Bug shelter.
This will be available in 4 different versions, mesh and fabric for both the single and the double .
The best news of all is that it will be free*, courtesy of Tarptent Downunder where our today is your tomorrow.

*Free if you buy the Scarp 1 or 2 with the optional poles.
Seriously this will make the Scarp even more of a 4 season shelter than it already is .
(I thought I better post my pic before Henry wakes up.)

If you are nice to me , I'll show you a crazy 3 pole version.

We have had some fantastic weather (for tents) here in Melbourne for the last three days. About 2 cm of rain in just over a day (not much but more than for Jan Feb combined) and some good wind gusts, even in my backyard. In between showers , strong sun with temps up to 38c (100f) great for condensation tests particularly inside the Scarp capturing a lot of ground evaporation in those big vestibules.
The fabric of the Scarp inner is relatively rain resistant and the structure can take "mild" wind at least, but it is a bug net, IE the sort of thing you put up when a tent is too warm and just want to keep the bugs out.
This fabric breaths well , is cool in the sun and a lot stronger than the typical No See Um, but keep in mind that it is just the Scarp inner. The mesh version will obviously be better for this, but the fabric gives you enough time to get out and put the fly up if it starts raining avoid getting the inside wet.
The little puddle by the guyline is about 10" wide. (top of boxed end)

Hi Lynn
This is a list I made when I first got the Scarp 1. Usually after I finished tinkering with them TTs , they are always heavier, never managed to cut the weight.
Weight as delivered is as per Backpack Gear test ( " I received the parcel at 10:37 precisely. It appeared well packed and no damage was detected. Upon opening the parcel I was surprised to see that the goods looked exactly as they do on the Net…." that kind of thing)
Scarp 1

Weight as delivered 1695g

Extra poles 350g

6x stakes 15g ea 90g

inner 395g

fly 660g

hoop pole 185g

My scale is (almost )accurate down to 5g

For that bug set up you need the two extra poles, four pegs, and the inner. You also need to add a bit of string to hold the pole ends, or you can do a proper job with a grommet and a couple of cm of grosgrain.

So about 800g,(28.4 oz) .
