Half pyramid poncho tarp

i am thinking of converting to a poncho tarp. For those that use the half pyramid set up, what poncho tarp are you using? How does the set up work for you? Any bad experiences? I dont use trekking poles anymore and have little experience with tarps. Is it possible to set it up as storm proof without the poles? Im hoping an ID poncho tarp wouldnt be to small? Thanks
